Background
My ancestry is through the Grimshaw and Oakley family names.
The Grimshaw Family
The paternal side of the ancestry is through the Grimshaw family name and, whilst not wishing to go over ground already researched by others, is thought to have originated from the Blackburn area and have a smattering of Viking blood in it.
The Oakley Family
The maternal side is through the Oakley family name and my particular Oakleys originate from the Staffordshire / Worcestershire area. The movement to the North West was instigated by my Grandmother in the early 1900's in her search for work for her sons after the death of her first husband from mining related diseases
