FERGUSON, W. A.,Corpl., 2/5th Manchester Regt.
He volunteered in April 1915. but was retained on home service
until March 1917, when he was sent to France. On that
Front he took part in the Battles of Ypres, Passchendaele,
Cambrai, and the Somme, and also experienced fierce fighting
at La Bassee and Nieuport. In March 1918 he was wounded
at Framerville and invalided home, remaining in England
until demobilised in March 1919. He holds the General
Service and Victory Medals.

...on searching Grand Lodge records, I have traced his membership of the Order which he joined on the 29 July 1919 in the Kingsway Lodge 1225, he was raised to the 2nd
Degree on the 26 July 1923, raised to the 3rd Degree on the 24 May 1927 and raised to the 4th Degree on the 26 March 1935, all in the Earl of Ellesmere Lodge 1638.
