107 NATIONAL ROLL OF THE GREAT WAR FERGUSON, W. A.,Corpl., 2/5th Manchester Regt. He volunteered in April 1915. but was retained on home service until March 1917, when he was sent to France. On that Front he took part in the Battles of Ypres, Passchendaele, Cambrai, and the Somme, and also experienced fierce fighting at La Bassee and Nieuport. In March 1918 he was wounded at Framerville and invalided home, remaining in England until demobilised in March 1919. He holds the General Service and Victory Medals. 35, Vicars Street, Eccles. 25708

• R.A.O.B.: P.P.G, After 1919, Eccles, Lancashire, England. 12 Extract of letter from General Secretary R.A.O.B. ...on searching Grand Lodge records, I have traced his membership of the Order which he joined on the 29 July 1919 in the Kingsway Lodge 1225, he was raised to the 2nd Degree on the 26 July 1923, raised to the 3rd Degree on the 24 May 1927 and raised to the 4th Degree on the 26 March 1935, all in the Earl of Ellesmere Lodge 1638.
William married Miss Maria Lowe, daughter of Mr Thomas Lowe and Miss Ellen Ellis, on 5 Aug 1907 in Eccles, Lancashire, England.1 (Miss Maria Lowe was born circa Dec 1884 in Eccles, Lancashire, England,13 died circa Mar 1953 in Manchester, England 14 and was buried in 1953 in Peel Green, Eccles, Lancashire, England 15.)
