Lambert was Killed 22/03/1883 at Sherdley pit report as follows:
A collier let a tub get away from him on an incline having only one scotch instead of two and struck the balance box coming up the brow which caused the rope to jerk and the tub descending against the balance box was jerked back suddenly and caught him against the roof as he followed it.
The collier said he could not get the tub to travel with two scotches in
